Pattern Me Pretty 🌸

Pattern Me Pretty 🌸

This spring is a story of patterns– I’ve seen gingham everything, Rag & Bone is heavily exploring florals and varsity-literal stripes, and we’ve already checked in abstract paint print, window-pane, plaid, Aztec geometric, and Indian bohemian block print in the shop – and it is only February!

Example: Market Style

Example: Market Style

We’ve been buzzing with excitement to announce a new project to you guys! We posted about a year ago that we wanted to make the blog a more active, communicative space and, admittedly, it’s been a challenge, but we’re working on it. Today we debut a series that has been a ton of fun to brainstorm and create, and we really hope it gets y’all excited as well. We’re calling it example. Our sign says “style by example” – so we thought we ought to be giving more examples! For our inaugural example, we’ve chosen Market Style.

In Charlottesville, we are lucky to have a thriving farmers market that occurs every Saturday from spring through the fall. At eg, we are even luckier because that market happens right across the street from us! As anyone who has ever been to the Cville farmers market knows, that thing is packed from start to finish! Parking is a nightmare and getting to work on time never goes as planned (shh…don’t tell Anna!). We get a lot of comments on these busy Saturday mornings about a particular bag that we carry, the Original Flea by Fleabags. It was designed to be THE market bag. The designers couldn’t find a bag that fit their needs for the Brooklyn flea market that they frequented, so they made one! This is a bag that you use and abuse, to carry trinkets and treasures, haul fresh veggies …or a big wet bouquet of flowers! Come water, dirt, coffee, or if you’re me, dog pee (lets not talk about it…), this bag takes it in kind. It’s not precious, but that’s the point! It’s meant to age, like a fine wine. It’s meant for every stain and imperfection to become a story. That’s why market goers (and mamas, and travel-junkies, and students) love it and continue to love it for years and years! And that was our inspiration for this post: easy, casual market style. These are all pieces available in the store that encourage the same easy, Saturday morning comfort, without sacrificing any style in the process. In other words, pieces that you can wear.

  1. California Tailor button down tee shirt.
  2. Rag & Bone Panama hat – available in off white or brick brown
  3. KOCH Marie top – available in three graphic prints (floating market shown)
  4. Aish Veda and Laxmi handmade Indian necklaces
  5. Current/Elliott relaxed hem denim pencil skirt
  6. Made With Love bracelets – many colors available
  7. The Original Flea from Fleabags – scarlet shown, three colors available
  8. Global Girls Double Pool sandal

Some items available for online purchase (check the links). If what you want doesn’t have a link, call or visit the shop!

Cheers!

Incredible Boot

Incredible Boot

Ever heard of a cult shoe? We hadn't either, until this season.  A boot so amazing, its given name is the Incredible Boot.  An all-weather, urban snow boot to keep you looking--yeah, we're saying it--incredible, no matter what the weather is.

Our new favorite shoe for the season comes to us from a label gracing our shelves for the first time this fall/winter: Penelope Chilvers. Chances are you've heard of her before now. Her shoes have been featured in Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Vanity Fair, and...well, let's just say most fashion publications. Celebrities swear by them, even Kate Middleton has been photographed wearing them (more than once).

Want to know more? The Penelope Chilvers story can be found on her website, www.penelopechilvers.com/about-us/the-brand.  Want the get the look?  Stop by our store! We have a couple of styles available right now, but as always, quantities are limited.
