Well, it certainly took its time getting to central Virginia, but it seems Fall has finally made an appearance! As a result of our sultry September, and then some very wet, monsoon-like weather, many of the women I've talked to this week are just now packing away their summer clothes and changing over their seasonal closet. During this transitional period, I like to keep my dressing strategy simple, and these days that's as easy as 1-2-3!
ONE: Skinny jeans.
TWO: a Bootie.
The variations on this simple proposition are endless, and can take you from the carpool line to a cocktail party. Think classic denim, a saddle brown low bootie and a plaid oxford for running around town, doing errands, a quick coffee. For evening, leather pants (or faux leather, if your political inclination or pocketbook demands), a stiletto bootie, and a silk shirt with some sparkly jewels. You get the picture.
The main thing is to vary texture, fabrics, heel style (no heel, stacked and chunky, delicate and high) and accessories to fit the occasion, and the weather. Rag & Bone makes a great open-toed bootie. This is a super chic way to battle a day that starts out cool, but warms in the late afternoon. (It also shows off your pedicure!)Pair it with denim and a grandpa cardigan for day.
Be sure to make choices that flatter your figure and your on-the-go lifestyle, whatever that may be. There is something in this winning formula for everyone. Check out our inspiration photos, and remember:
1-2-3 KISS (keep it simple, shopper!)
